Lesson #1 - Concentrate - Concentrate - argh......
And Yoda falls off..... (If you do not know that reference - go look it up.)
In order to perform true witchcraft, you must learn to concentrate.
"But Great Master, I already know how to concentrate."
"No my child, you do not."
Most people can not maintain focus on a conversation for over 2 minutes.
Here is both a test and an exercise to help you focus...
close your eyes, meditate, relax, and get yourself ready to focus...
Now clear your mind of all thoughts but the number 1.
in your mind repeat the number one every second.
As soon as you have any other thought enter your mind, move the number up to 2 and start repeating.
Even if it is a fragment of a thought that you suppress, increase the number.
Do this for either 1 full minute, or until you hit 20.
After practicing for years, I am still not able to keep on the number 1 for a full minute....
Some explanations here....
We as a creature (man) need sensory input. The more we have, the better off we feel.
We like touch and taste and smell and sight and sound all at once.
How many times have you been alone in the house reading a book (or doing something similiar) and you realized it was quiet, so you turned on a radio or tv, even though you were not going to listen to it..... you just needed the background noise. (in the spring you open a window and hear the birds etc)
When doing this test, you have eliminated not only all the sensory input, but you also shut the mind down to one task and one task only, short of the autonomous stuff that is.
You brain does not like being in that state, and so it begins to add in random thoughts....
So why is focus important?
Because in order for true witchcraft to work, Focus is a key.
And on that note, It is time to analyze what true witchcraft is.
You throw some nice ingredients in the fire, you dance, you chant hocus pocus, and "boom" some thing happens......
To most people, that is what they think and know, including a vast majority of Modern Wicca.
And sometimes it works exactly like that. But if you can not explain why, then you are truly not a master of witchcraft, and you are repeating that of those that taught you only.
You are in elementary school, where they tell you what to think, not how to think...
Here, I am going to teach you How to think.
And my first step is to explain just how Witchcraft truly works.
That though my new students and friends, will be lesson #2 - mainly because you probably lost your focus by now :)
